Pricing questions
How does the free trial work?
Download the app and use it: the three-day trial starts on first launch, with every feature. No account, no card. When it ends, the app asks for a license or subscription key to keep dictating; your settings and history are kept.
Subscription or lifetime license: what is the difference?
None inside the app: same features, same three Macs, same updates. The subscription is paid monthly or yearly and stops whenever you decide; the lifetime license is paid once and stays valid with no time limit. If you expect to still be dictating in two years, the lifetime license works out cheaper.
How long does the launch price last?
The lifetime license is offered at €79 instead of €99 for a limited time, during the launch. We do not commit to an end date; the price shown at checkout is the one that applies. A license bought at the launch price is a complete lifetime license, with no restriction whatsoever.
What happens after I buy?
Lemon Squeezy emails you an invoice and a key. In DictateLocal, open Settings, About, paste the key into the “License key” field and click “Activate”. It takes effect immediately, for the lifetime license and the subscription alike.
What happens when a subscription ends?
If you cancel, or if a payment fails, the subscription stops at the end of the period already paid. The app then becomes read-only: no more dictation or captions, but your settings, history and files stay on your Mac and nothing is deleted. Activate a new key, subscription or lifetime, to pick up where you left off.
Can I switch from the subscription to the lifetime license?
Yes, at any time: buy the lifetime license, activate the new key in the app, then cancel the subscription. If you would like a pro-rata refund of the current subscription period, email [email protected]: we review each request individually, with no guarantee.
How do I cancel my subscription?
From the receipt email sent by Lemon Squeezy: the link to your order opens the customer portal, where a button lets you cancel in a few clicks. You can also email [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and no further payment is taken.
How many Macs can I activate?
Three Macs at the same time, with the subscription as with the lifetime license. Each activation is labelled with the Mac’s name so you can tell them apart.
How do I deactivate a Mac I no longer use?
On that Mac, in Settings, About, click “Deactivate on this Mac”. If you no longer have access to it (sold, wiped), email [email protected] from your purchase address and we will free the seat.
Does the license need an Internet connection?
Once, for activation. It is then silently rechecked every two weeks; without a network, the app keeps working for thirty days. Dictation itself never depends on the Internet.
Are updates paid?
No. Updates are included with both plans and offered inside the app: for as long as the subscription is active, and with no time limit for the lifetime license. Should a paid major edition ever appear, the version you own would keep working.
Can I get a refund?
Lifetime license: yes, within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked; an email to [email protected] is enough and Lemon Squeezy refunds the original payment method. Subscription: you can cancel at any time, but the current period is not refunded, except where the law provides otherwise.
Why are prices in euros? Can I pay in my own currency?
DictateLocal is sold from France through Lemon Squeezy, so prices are set in euros. At checkout, Lemon Squeezy shows the amount in your local currency and charges it at the current exchange rate; your card or PayPal account is debited in that currency. The dollar amounts on this page are approximate and only there to give you an idea.
Who is the seller? Will I get an invoice?
Sales are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record: it takes the payment, applies your country’s VAT and issues the invoice, which you receive by email for every payment. You can add your company name and VAT number at checkout.
