Terms of sale

1. Parties and merchant of record

The DictateLocal software (“the Software”) is published by the publisher identified in the legal notice (“the Publisher”). Licenses and subscriptions are sold by Lemon Squeezy, LLC, acting as merchant of record: Lemon Squeezy is your counterparty for the transaction, collects the payments, applies and remits the relevant VAT and issues the invoices. Lemon Squeezy’s terms govern the transaction; these terms govern the software license and your relationship with the Publisher.

2. Product

DictateLocal is an on-device voice dictation application for macOS, delivered by download as a signed and notarized disk image. It requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later; a Mac with Apple silicon is recommended. Its features are those described on dictatelocal.com on the date of purchase. Features relying on macOS components (language model, translation) depend on their availability on your machine and in your language.

3. Free trial

The Software may be used free of charge for three days from first launch, with every feature, without commitment or payment method. After the trial, a lifetime license key or a subscription key is required to keep dictating.

4. Plans, price and payment

Two plans give access to the same Software, with the same features and the same number of Macs:

• the lifetime license, paid once;
• the subscription, monthly or yearly, renewed automatically until cancelled (section 7).

Prices are shown in euros, VAT included, on dictatelocal.com and on the Lemon Squeezy checkout page; the price shown at checkout applies. VAT is calculated according to your country of residence. Prices are set in euros; Lemon Squeezy may display and charge their equivalent in the buyer’s currency, at the exchange rate in force at the time of payment. Payment is by card or PayPal through Lemon Squeezy. An invoice is sent by email for every payment.

Launch price. The lifetime license may be offered at a reduced launch price, for a limited time that the Publisher may end at any moment without notice. A license bought at the launch price carries exactly the same rights as one bought at the regular price.

Price changes. The Publisher may change its prices. For ongoing subscriptions, any price change is notified by email at least thirty (30) days before the renewal date on which it applies; the subscriber may cancel before that date, free of charge, and the new price only applies to periods starting after the notification.

5. Delivery

The license or subscription key is emailed immediately after payment confirmation. The Software is downloaded from dictatelocal.com. Delivery is deemed complete when the key is sent.

6. License

Lifetime license. The purchase grants the buyer a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the Software, in the purchased version and in the updates provided by the Publisher, on up to three (3) Macs at the same time.

Subscription. Subscribing grants the subscriber a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software and its updates, on up to three (3) Macs at the same time, for the duration of the subscription. When a subscription expires without renewal, the Software becomes read-only: dictation, captions and the other transcription features are disabled until a new key is activated; the user’s settings, history and files remain accessible on their Mac and are not deleted.

In both cases, the user may deactivate a Mac from within the Software to activate another. The key is verified online at activation and periodically thereafter; without a network, the Software keeps working for thirty days.

You may not share, resell or publish the key, bypass the licensing mechanism, decompile the Software beyond what the law allows, or use it to provide a transcription service to third parties without the Publisher’s agreement. The Publisher may revoke a key that is clearly shared or fraudulently obtained, after informing its holder.

The Software includes open-source components, listed in the app; their licenses apply to those components.

7. Subscription: term, renewal and cancellation

The subscription is taken out for a period of one (1) month or one (1) year, depending on the option chosen at checkout. At the end of each period it is renewed automatically for a period of the same length, at the price then in force, until cancelled. Each period is charged at its start to the payment method registered with Lemon Squeezy. For the yearly subscription, a reminder is emailed before the renewal date.

The subscriber may cancel at any time, without reason or fee, from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal reached through the link in the receipt email, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, which remains usable until then; no further renewal is charged. The current period is not refunded, without prejudice to the rights granted to consumers by law (section 9).

If a payment fails, Lemon Squeezy retries and informs the subscriber; if the payment is not completed, the subscription ends at the end of the period already paid.

The subscriber may buy a lifetime license at any time; it is then up to them to cancel their subscription. A pro-rata refund of the current subscription period may be requested from the Publisher, who reviews each request individually without being bound to grant it.

8. Updates and support

Updates are offered inside the app. They are included with no time limit in the lifetime license and, for its whole duration, in the subscription. The Publisher reserves the right to release a separate major edition in the future subject to a new purchase; the version acquired under a lifetime license would remain usable. Support is provided by email at [email protected], without a guaranteed response time.

9. Withdrawal and refund

Lifetime license. The Publisher offers a fourteen (14) day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase, no questions asked: simply email [email protected] with the order email address. Lemon Squeezy refunds the original payment method and the key is deactivated.

Subscription. The subscription may be cancelled at any time under section 7; except where the law provides otherwise, the current period is not refunded.

These provisions are in addition to, and do not reduce, any statutory right of withdrawal. Under article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, a consumer who requests activation of their key before the end of the withdrawal period acknowledges acceptance of the immediate supply of digital content, without affecting the commercial guarantee offered on the lifetime license.

10. Warranties and liability

The Publisher warrants that the Software conforms to its description under articles L224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code. Otherwise the Software is provided as is; speech recognition may contain errors and the user remains responsible for proofreading inserted text and for its use. To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher’s liability is limited to the amounts paid by the user over the last twelve months. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to consumers by law.

11. Personal data

See the privacy policy. The Software transmits neither audio nor dictated text.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, the buyer first contacts the Publisher at [email protected]. Consumers may use a consumer mediator free of charge ([TO BE COMPLETED: name and contact details of the chosen consumer mediator]) or the European online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr). Failing that, French courts have jurisdiction, subject to protective rules applicable to consumers.

13. Changes

The Publisher may modify these terms; the applicable version is the one in force at the time of purchase or, for a subscription, at the start of the current period, available at dictatelocal.com/en/terms/. Any substantial change is notified to subscribers by email before the renewal to which it applies.
