Requirements

  • macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later.
  • Apple silicon Mac recommended; about 2 GB of free space for the recognition models.
  • An Internet connection on first launch to download the chosen model; dictation then works offline.

Installation

  1. Open the downloaded DictateLocal.dmg file.
  2. Drag DictateLocal to the Applications folder, then open it.
  3. Follow the introduction: microphone permission, Accessibility (to write into other apps), then model choice.
  4. The 3-day free trial starts; no card is required.
